Im sure the rod stroke ratio is gonna be ass without custom pistons and rods. Thanks for the link, you should post it on the site news, it may help them get some feedback to make it.
however that would have to involve some serious block clearancing wouldnt it? i really dont think we have what .6 (i figured it out last night) more stroke
Brian, what bore/stroke/rod numbers are you using? I figured with a 1mm overbore (to 93mm), using a 98mm stroke, and a 5.4 inch rod (to keep stockpistons), you get 4L displacement and a rod/stroke ratio of 1.40:1. Using a 103 mm stroke, and a 5.33" rod yields 4.2L, and a rod/stroke ratio of 1.31:1.
They mention that they are using stock pistons, but I know with a 3400 crank and psitons, there isn't much clearance between the crank conterweight and the pistons skirt at BDC. With an increased stroke, they almost have to use stock-length or longer rods, and much shorter pistons.
I would rather see an aftermarket forged crank with the stock stroke that uses the larger SBC rod journal size (to increase strength, and allow use of more common aftermarket rods). The added displacement is always good, but the same power can be made with a stronger crank and mor revs.
I would probably just spend my money on a 3900. It is almost 4L, and has the forged crank. Of course, this doesn't do the RWD people any good.
When is someone going to make some 4-bolt main caps? I wonder if some aftermarket SBC caps could be machined to fit?
