Ya, I found this kit here:

Looks like that could basically bring me up to what the 3800 is set at.

The other thing that is hurting low end punch is a free flowing exhaust. It's great for the high end power, but the low end punch suffers. I've got a 2.93FDR in mine, but low end power suffers some due to the 3" exhaust. There isn't much you can do, except for actual engine work, cam, heads, and all that stuff.

My exhaust is only 2.5" from the downpipe back. I haven't really noticed it drop, so much as I haven't seen it improve. I understand that going bigger would probably hurt unless I went F/I, that's why I stayed at 2.5".

Do you think getting that intense kit, with a 3.29 FDR would help? I don't get how it actually increases acceleration and decreases ET time, yet your final trap speed decreases.

Does that mean I'll lose some of the pull in the higher range?

Now that I think about it, I guess if I went with the 3.29, I would notice better acceleration from maybe 0-60, and then it would taper off...is that why you have a faster 1/4 mile yet you end up a bit slower at the end?

That's kind of what I want.

i've found the same laq below 3K rpm too, however i do have a GASE with a FDR of 3.05. however, my wife's GASE (4-banger) hads the 3.61 FDR. i know for a fact the GAGT has the 3.29 w/o affecting mileage. the 3.61 will give me an 18.3% increase in acceleration!! there is a 3.91 for the base G6!

I have the 3.29 in my Grand Am GT; over all acceleration off the line is decent however you really start to feel it pull at around 3000+ RPM.

The 99+ 3400 GAGT and 3500 G6 use the 4t45e transmission where the 05 impala would use a 4t65e trans. There are many other things that can effect the acceleration such as traction control, line pressure, KR,ect.

Well, I know they increased the line pressure, I definitely noticed that. I don't know what traction control is on the base model...I have no switch or anything.

The only other issue could be KR, and now that I think about it, I wish I would have had them scan my car and tune it as best as possible. I think for now, since I have the parts, I'm gonna get my top end swap done. I might save up and have ZZP do it for me, and then maybe redo my PCM. I definitely have to get it redone if I ever get the HD upgrade kit.

Are you sure there is not a switch in the glove box or on the dash to disable traction control? I looked online and traction control was listed as standard equipment on the 05 impala and a few other people with 05 impalas stated they turned off the traction control. I would try to turn it off and see if your launch feels any quicker.

There is a spot on the dash, I believe, where it should be, but it's filled in with a plain cover.

Are you sure it's standard for a 3400?
