  • A Few Questions

Ok the upgrade bug has hit again.
I was looking on summit racing and have found a few things but have questions.
1 Would upgrading the injectors on a mostly stock motor be worth my time? Summit has 15, 17, 19, 21, and 24lb injectors.
2 Next ignition coils. They have Accel and the summit one? I have accel wires.
3 Spark plugs. What brand would be my best choice?

    btw i have a 91 cutlass supreme 3.1

    1. not at all unless you are going with a much bigger cam or boost.

    2. i feel the stockers are adequate, even for upgrades. otherwise go with MSD.

    3. assuming no boost, NGK V-groove, or Denso I prefer. I have Denso Iridium U-groove in my GASE. can't say for sure if they are better than stock.

If you're leaving the motor stock, or adding some light bolt ons, then just leave it. I did and it runs perfect!

i agree, if its stock id leave it, and spend your money on a future project, or BEER

becuase everything you listed isnt going to do sqaut
and if you get bigger injectors youll need to start tuning

you could allways aquire tuning stuff, and massage the ecu a bit to get your feet wet

youll get a way more bigger bang for the buck doin that

          chip? what brand?
do you have an eeprom adapter?
and tuning tools like a aldl cable, laptop, tunerpro and deffinition, freescan, chip burner?

tunerpro is free, freescan is free, adapter is cheap, chips are cheap
just a laptop, chip burner and aldl cable will cost ya

id invest in those and start doing some real tuning
not only will you fill that crave to mod, you will see real results

why would you do that, stock motor is the best to learn on
then your not all "fuck" whats going on man, this is so complicated.. "cry cry"
if your going to boost in the future... your going to need to tune
best to build your confidence in tuning now and be prepared for when you need to tune... and youll fill that crave to mod with the tuning

is it just me, that likes to do research and learn about somthign before i do it ?

                i dunno *shrugs shoulders*

Just do like me. Upgrade to performance parts when the other ones go bad.

didnt read the other posts but these are your answers.
                        1. no
                        2. if you want to spend the 50 bucks or whatever it is, maybe, but its not necessary, I would focus elsewhere.
                        3. stock AC Delcos. Period.

What people need to know about ignition is it doesn't matter how big the spark is on basically a stock engine, any spark is gonna ignite the mixture the same. That goes for aftermarket coils too. And wires. Hell, basically everything. I dont even see the true "performance" gain in MSD boxes, but some people swear by them so, i dunno.

Dont EVER EVER EVER get a "chip" Get your car dyno tuned, or nothing at all. Anything else is a waste of money. Hand held tuners are ok, but there are a lot of limits, they're good for tire changes, trans shift points, and rear end gear swaps. And coolant fan operation, thats about it.

ok, i'm sorry, but i have a "chip" and it works great! Ben will do free mods to your chip to your tune. so not a waste of money. granted, a chip is not engine specific, however, you may or may not gain from a dyno tune vs. a "chip". just depends on your engine.

And then you pretty much said what has been said and already missed the point on the "chip". No quotes needed, its actually a chip on a board you put in the ECM, that was done from tuning a lot of 3.1s and doing the wot fuel on a dyno. I encourage everyone that wants to modify their motor to get the programming supplies and a scanning setup. Still, to tell me no chip is ever worth it is very hard for me to believe.
