  • My old Arias pistons for my 01 GA Broke??????

    Well there allready replaced but do this look like improper break in, or improper instalation, or just not a good tune. i was 145 when it happened.



    remeber I only had these on for about 4k miles look at all that carbon

      I'd say a bad tune in combination with prolonged hard running and potentially improper piston/bore clearance for the application.

      It's not very widely known, but in order to keep pistons from self destructing, GM engine management sharply decreases the AFR down to something very rich, like 10:1, after 15-20 seconds at WOT. As the engine's time at WOT goes on, chamber and piston temps rise. This can give rise to detonation which further increases piston temps (even if the pistons are forged and can take the abuse). The accompanying expansion leads to a deficit of piston-bore clearance, which you experienced.
