  • Help needed with rebuild....

...My engine has official taken a dump. I will have the heads off by the weekend.(already started) I'm going to do an overhaul. Rings and bearings. I know one of the heads is trashed. So should I get a set of 3.4 L heads and intake and TB for it. I figure with a 206 cam it should help the horsepower significantly. Can I use 3.1 iron head gaskets for improved quench?

Then it sounds like you could do a 3400 topend swap. I have a 3400 lower intake for sale :-)

Only cam you can do is a regrind. The store has regrinds available here with solid core cams.

If your motor is trashed you could probably swap a low mileage 3400 for the cost of rebuilding the old one... But yes 3400 heads/intakes would be good for the rebuild.

Don't go with too radical of a cam unless you plan to swap wiring harness and ECM to a 96 for OBDII and buying a DHP or something so you can tune.
