  • 3500 exhaust manifolds on 3400

    I tried searching here and on the z24 forum but haven't gotten a straight answer. Can you put 3500 manifolds on a 3400 and what would it take? thanks a lot

    Wait.. you didn't see the thread on it.. where i posted pictures of them installed?

    Short answer, Yes.. but you need 2 front manifolds as the stock 3500 rear hits the rack. If we can ever find a pair of flanges for the front manifolds we'll be putting a pair on a cammed 3400 in a sunbird this summer.
    Past Builds;

    Current Project;
    1972 Nova 12.73@105.7 MPH

      Oh wow good writeup, lol figured i would miss it. I would be swaping this engine into a fiero so i dont think i would have clearence issues with the rear manifold, perhaps i could buy your extra rears since you have no use for them, I bet both rears would fit even...hmmmm...what do you think

        You need a left and right pair, the rear manifold mounted on the front side of the engine will point straight at the firewall in the Fiero instead of down like the front side 3500 manifold does and you will probably have the same delima that the fwd cars have, interference due to clearance issues. Two front side manifolds should work with out a problem.

        Go back and look at the positions in my build.

          OK So it sounds like a pair of the manifolds ( one left and one right) will work hooked up regularly and then use a 3500 manifold gasket? will the O2 sensor hook up correctly and work right with everything? these will just bolt right up correct? I wouldn't need any special flanges right? thanks a lot for the help!
