my original idea was to turbo charge my 85 2.8...has anybody used the fierostore.com's forged pistons for this? would they hold up to be worth anything? also to anyone else that has already done this project, about how much was ur stand alone computer system system?

fiero store forged pistons?

i run those pistons in my motor. they claim 9.5:1 compression, however i ended up with 9.2:1 with gen 1 gaskets (.040") at .030" overbore. they should work well with boost. make sure you order the rings from fiero store aswell cause they arent the same as stock rings. my machinist figured them out to be for a 2.3l ford, hence why you need to have the wrist pin end of the rod machined and need the specific rings.

If you are planning on putting new pistons just for boost, there are many people boosting stock pistons (myself included), just make sure your tune is good .
I suggest MegSquirt for a standalone.

just to add, im n/a, and looking into boosting mine. i wouldnt cosider the pistons to be a big weak point depending on your boost levels. if your planning under 10psi, stock should be ok with the relitivly low 8.5:1 compression.
my motor has a lot more than just the pistons, pretty much no part of it remains untouched. i run a megasquirt stand alone on mine. price varries as to what you want (you can buy it unassembled and build it, or buy a complete ready to go), but they range from $150-450. i would also highly recomend a wideband o2 system.

im not really looking to do more then 10psi, but id like to leave as much as i can untouched..how would i bring the compression down to that level?
thanks to all for the help so far!*DREAM*:beating my friends 93 Rx7 with my fiero"PoP" ReAlItY ChECk O well theres always dreams

sorry for the slow reply...iv been wraped around a finger lately lol...so the stock compression is 8.9..but the forged pistons are supposed to raise it to 9.5....id love to stay with the stock pistons (much cheeper) but i dont wana puch my luck....if i were to go over 10psi would i have to worry about a needing knock sensor? iv heard that at lower psi's its not nessecary.......also id need bigger injectors to correct?? any help on any part of this would be awsome and thank to all that have helped so far*DREAM*:beating my friends 93 Rx7 with my fiero"PoP" ReAlItY ChECk O well theres always dreams

the fiero store pistons came out around 9.2:1 in my motor with gen 1 head gaskets. with a gen 2 (aluminum head) 2.8 gaskets it will drop to around 8.7:1. stock compression for you is 8.9, if you swap in the gen 2 gaskets you would likley end up about 8.5.
you will need to tune your computer for boost. you will need larger injector. i would recomend a knock sensor. for what your doing, id almost recomend an aftermarket computer, or swap to a 7730 ecm and tune that

I would go for forged cause there is always the hunger for more.
I know of a guy that used the fiero store forged pistons for
his double turbo v6.
it's on the web somewhere...I can't seem to find it right now but I'll see what i can do for ya.
he is using 2 t25 turbo's.
and I thought he's canadian.

The best info for this upgrade is on the Fiero forum, the 1985 Fiero ECM supports turbocharging and a knock sensor with the proper Bin file and additional parts; 2 Bar MAP, ESC module and Knock sensor. The V6 computers are interchangeable in the Fiero across all years, the Prom for 85 will only work in the 85 ECM.
There are lots of turbo Fieros on the Fiero forum so you'll be able to find plenty of info in the archives specific for it.
