    UIM mods

here are some pics of the uim that's
    being modified.

I removed the 3400 sfi from the top,
it will be shotpeened and beadblasted to look like an original piece.

I also removed the neck to adapt a wider and bigger neck.

Just got my header flanges from BETTER THAN YOU.
they will soon be TIG welded to the modified alfa headers.

also won a new set of arias forged pistons custom made for the 3400.
they were on ebay and I won them for 100$ !!!!!!!
      they were 714$ to fabricate.

I will post some new pics in the next couple of days

Nice score on ebay! I periodically check for things like that. A guy scored some hypers for a 3.1 for $35, and I ended up buying them for $100 :P

          not bad.

here are some new pics of the header that's on the rear head...

as you can see the middle piece of tube is out of center compared to the original piece from the alfa romeo car.

here's a pic from the flanges that better than you sold me at a good price

Looking good, I like that idea of putting the M90 under the exhaust .

You can use an air to air intercooler with the S/C since it's not on the intake directly, that will be cool.

Whats the neck off of that you are welding to the plenum?

the larger neck is a aloy piece of an intercooler from a large truck.
I found it at the local 'metal recycling company".

I went there a couple of times for some aloy intercooling piping/tubes.
if I found something of use I gave them a couple of bucks(euro's).

though it looks like a good fit....
it will give me some issues with clearing the fuelrail.

you'l probably see when I get around to it.

well I just installed ls6 springs on the 3400 heads.

here are some nice pics of the intake.

the headers will have to wait a while since there is offspring coming
                      on wednessday(c-section).

here you can clearly see how I unschrouded the valves
for a bit better flow into the combustion chaber.

                        that's about it for now.....

The headwork looks fantastic! How much material did you remove from the chambers, and how did you make sure they are equal? Also would like to know what gaskets you ported to.

Congratulations on the new addition to your family , I have four kids myself.

                            thanx...

I grinded away the machined area till it was pretty smooth....
and smoothed all afterwards with grit 80.

you can fill them with water and a syringe...that will give you a good
estamation of the volume.(though it would be better to seal of the head
                            with a plate)

portmatching was done with the standard black rubber gasket
thats atached to a alloy carrier.

well..first of all I am a very proud dad now since 5 september
and time will become an issue now.

I managed to pick up the pistons I bought on ebay
                              for a meazly 100$ !!!

noticed that the upper area above the top ring is beefed up a bit
compaired to the standard 3400 piston

I just need to have the rods small end reamed to.912 cause
these pins are a bit bigger than the .905 or so standard.

I need to check on the wall clearance they need and figure out if
the block needs to be honed/bored.
