  • engine noise???

Ok my engine is making an interesting noise. it sounds like the suction of the intake at an idle but its not coming from the filter. it sounds like a loud vacumm leak coming directly from underneath the uim. so i took the upper off to see if it was cracked. nothin, and ther is no vacumm lines unhooked. im thinkin ether the lim gasket or an injector o ring. the thing is it seems to be running ok???

check for leaks w/ bottle of propane and torch put a ruber hose on the end of the torch to get to those hard to reach spots. If the rpms change you have found your leak. I use this a lot to trouble shoot, works pretty well.

Propane? I have heard of using carb spray to see if the RPM changes.

Propane works too. Might even be safer than if you spray carb cleaner on hot exhaust manifolds on accident. Propane could build up though too. Best to do either test on a cold engine to reduce the risk of fire outside of the motor.

Heh that reminds me McGavin (dude with m90 sticking out of his hood) had a propane injection system he built up. Heh.

propane... now THAT is a neat idea!

I've always used starting fluid- and it works great... but I like the idea of a rubber hose for those hard-to-reach areas.
