Ah ok, that does make more sense, and I am planning on getting a bigger TB when I get the manifolds ported. Now I'm curious though about a few things to begin with.

If I didn't swap the heads, would it be worth porting the manifolds and getting a bigger TB? How much power do they even add?

Would I need PCM work if I was to swap any of this stuff on?

Now the biggest issue right now is reliability. This car is my daily driver and my mechanic is concerned that swapping in new heads and porting the intakes may reduce my reliability, along with the PCM work that would need to be done. Now its my understanding that a 3100/3400 hybrid would essentially be a 2000+ 3100, so if I don't change anything the reliability should still be there.

However with the cost of all this it makes me want to get a Cavalier as a second car, especially since it will have a manual transmission which I really want (as much as I really want the V6 as well).

My last question, if I do get these parts and do the porting and head work, what else would I need to support it? Its either that, or swapping over the 3400 parts and just going with the turbo stock. Thanks again.

Porting is always good, but what do you mean to support the UIM/LIM? Are you thinking now of just swapping intake manifolds only?
The headbolts are torque to yeild, they must be replaced. If you try to reuse them chances are they will snap off, but they usually don't snap off flush.
