  • 3.1 heads w/LS6 Springs NEED Shims?

I am installing the LS6 Springs on my 3.1L Heads.

What do I need to buy or install that the heads dont have already?

    ie; small block shims?
I dont know what this means but "ASS HATS" is funny

LS1 seats from GM. I orderd 5 sets a while back so that I could put them on the store but they still aren't here. Its going on 3 weeks You will also need seals, but that depends on the year of your heads.

Hmm , if you dont get the ls shims, hmm you could do a costume, like I did , hmm I took the shim out out of a s10 pickup and cut the valve seal of it because the seal is smaller.
I did that because I couldnt get the ls shims here at the gm dealer.

where did you order the shims from. i ordered from pace performance and got them pretty quick.

if it was gm partsdirect they prob got lost somewhere. happened to me a few years ago.

I bought some off GMPD recently, and then ordered more. They may have run out again if anything.

When i got mine at a local dealer, they had them in the next day.

GMPD is the worst place to buy anything if you need it in a hurry.

                    The heads are from a 92 3.1L

So I will just use stock valve seals.

So I will use the shims from a LS1 Engine right? But what vehical has these? I know I know the Fbodys but what years. I am not sure. 99-02 I am thinking. Is anyone willing to provide a GM part number so that I can check my local GM dealer.

I now have 5 sets of shims:P Yes, they take forever but they were cheaper than the dealer here in town.

if you tell the dealer you are a parts reseller, they should cut you a discount.

When I was buying dealer stuff, I just told them I worked for meineke or quicklube or whatever, and told them the location and left my number to call instead of calling the place

They still can't beat GMPD. I wanted to get 3500 uppers but they were $10 more even after shipping from GMPD.

                              NEW "Q"!

When installing my roller rockers onto the 3.1L heads do I need to swap the Studs over from the Iron Heads to get the rockers to snug down properly?
