'93 Sunbird. 5spd, 3.1, it's fast. Oh, and 240k miles has proven lethal against Turbo Talons

I'm lurking occasionaly. It's tough because I'm usually too busy with the Army or my 5.0 Mustang. Which is for sale.

Do stall converters help these cars out a lot?

thats a tough call. realy, it all depends on the budget. if it was a tight budget, id say
-full exaust with high flow cat and decent muffler
-cold air intake with cleaned up throttle body
              -power tuner/chip burning stuff

if money isnt an object, i couldnt pick 3. i cant honestly tell someone to throw a cam in there motor unless they have other supporting mods, such as ported heads and intake, ported exaust manifolds or headers, higher compression, ect. you cant just throw something in and expect more power, you need things that support that and work together, and then need to be able to tune for it.

                3x00 swap
                3x00 top end
Cam or custom long tube headers and exhaust.

And yeah being able to tune is always a bonus to get the most out of your mods, or if you have a ton of mods, to get it to run good period.

Some good stuff being tossed around here guys.

It seems as though 2.5" is the PERFECT diameter size exhaust tubing for our cars though?? I may look into that.

If it's not used with a set of manifolds that have a 2.5" downpipe it's just going to be loud.. 2.5" on a set of 3400 manifolds would open up a 3.1 in the top end a decent ammount.

the 3.1's manifolds are terrible, the downpipe is also 2".

So are you saying to pick up a set of 3400 exhaust manifolds?? Will they bolt right up w/out switching the upper intake and shit?

                            on a FWD 3.1 Yes.

you'll need the gen3 downpipe flange and a custom downpipe....

So just go to a junkyard and pick up the exhaust manifolds and downpipe flange, then have the exhaust shop do the rest? I will need NO other modifications right?
