Anybody notice a perf. diff. when removing thr cat
I noticed a little bit of a difference when I upgraded my exhaust from factory to a Hi-flo cat and 2.25" system and turbo muffler. It mostly just sounded better though. Last week I upgraded to a 2.5" system with mandrel bends, no cat, and a Dynomax Turbo muffler. Holy crap did I ever see an improvement! Even though I have nearly 152,000 miles on my motor, I set a new 1/4 mile mph record with my car 88.60, and I was consistently running at least 2-3 mph faster than in recent years. I thought the old system was enough to let the engine breath, but it obviously wasn't. I wish I would have gone 2.5" with no cat years ago!

Huh no kidding.. neat stuff. I actually just turned 153k the other day as i was pulling into my driveway from a Cruise Night haha. But I am not sure what size my exhaust is.. it's not factory, but i doubt it's 2.5". Thanks for the input though man.
'93 Sunbird. 5spd, 3.1, it's fast. Oh, and 240k miles has proven lethal against Turbo Talons
I'm lurking occasionaly. It's tough because I'm usually too busy with the Army or my 5.0 Mustang. Which is for sale.
There was a dyno test in one of those import mags about that difference. There's a link to it somewhere in this forum. The difference between a hi-flow cat and just pipe was all of 1 or 2 HP more for the straight pipe.
