Oh yeah, my truck used to have the angle cuts, but I went to PepBoys and grabbed some chrome megaphones to weld on. The tips sound much better (3" inlet Flowmaster to dual 2.5" out).

They are rusting already, though, after about 6mos =(.

Dave, haha you would have!! So did sounding funny sound bad, or sound good? heh

Forced: Really? so one side has no muffler at all just a smaller pipe to the tip? (or is that how the muffler works inside basically?) That would be cool, quiet until you stand on it... And straight pipe/no muffler sounds good IMO

I only drove it like that for a few miles.. had to make a run to Advance auto to pick up another superturbo, the muff shop was out..

I guess it didn't sound bad but with both windows down on the car you could hear the passenger side over the drivers side...

Yes, the exhaust looks similar to a 3rd gen f-body but the pass side goes straight through and the muffler is connected to the driver's side exit only.

Running a 5" on a naturally aspirated motor is OK!

[QUOTE=Joseph Upson;323957]3" exhaust is too much for a naturally aspirated V6 under about 300 hp.
You need the scavenging effect to help appreciate your headers and if the exhaust pipe is too big it will negate that by allowing the exhaust to cool too much before exiting. I believe GM ran 3" single on the V8 F-body cars all the way up into the 330 hp range in the 90s model cars, not sure if they switched when they developed the LSx engines.

Since you are using a muffler the wider pipe should make the tone a little deeper, however the muffler will probably have the biggest influence on the sound that comes out the end.
But............ like a super trap muffler you need internal baffles the sound would be deafining. (sic) I have 3.5 inch on my McLaren M6B concept car with a 3.1 GTP motor. I just have internal custom baffles, for that little back pressure. She does 100 MPH in second gear....
