Post an email I will get it to you, but the CR was 12.5 with the GM pistons. I believe they are discontinued now.

Wait on the chip. Get all your stuff in then if you want do a Motas ostridge.
There are people out there that have the same engine and the Ostridge will allow you to tune it or go back to stock. Alot of options built in. and people can help you tune it or you can eventually take it to a dino and then get it tuned there.

The camshaft like me and Blue were saying if you do 1.6 your changing the cam profile because you are affecting the lift ratio. thus it increases duration, lift, and lap. Should change compression. To what effect I don't know. Maybe .1 ?

Fivepoint he doesn't want a race engine he wants a high output low octane runner like 89. With that he should be cool with the 9.8:1 the 13:1 would have him pinging. He is building a daily driver with high power.

You also have another option the regular iron head gasket is .040 some of the aluminum is .060 so you could change it there too. Me personally just stick with the lower cus if you need to work on your heads again there is still material left to trim down to get flat.

Yet another thing before you get it alll back make sure you do your Intake manifold port that before you put it back together. Then it will be done when you go to swap for the 4.3TBI you want to pull it 1.68" so that is matchs the TBI

          2.8 High Compression

Hi again, What is this Ostrige your talking about, is it a chip, I`ve never heard of this, I`ve decided to stay with the 9.82 to 1 , I`ll be safer with it, I also have a extra set of large valve iron heads sitting on the shelf right now that I could do other mods to later if I don`t like the 9.82 , I`m going to have to get my shit together fast now as tonight I was coming home from work and the old engine went clank clank bang and stopped dead, it sounded more like the timing chain let go or I lost a con rod end, no holes or oil leakage any where so that`s a posative , going to start pulling engine tomorrow ahead of when I had planned, now just have to figure out how I`m going to get to work , thanks guys Bill..

One more thing to keep track of. Since you lowered the deck height, the distance between the head and the intake has now changed! You may want to have your manifold decked the same distance, otherwise when you torque the intake to the head, the intake will hit the block before it snugs to the heads. Make sense?

Motor broke! That sucks! At least you're a little ahead of the game since you have new motor coming along.

Oops, i have one more. A sneaky trick that helps out, drill the exhaust manifold holes out to accept a larger bolt! I just mentioned this on another board to a guy with broken bolts. Those M8 exhaust bolts ALWAYS break....

with a 2.8 and that mild of a cam, you'll never need that 4.3 TB or headers! you won't gain much out of headers from a mildly modded 2.8 or 3.1, so don't waste your money. the intake is damn restrictive so do whatever you can to blend, gasket match and some polishing. that will help. at least use the 1.6 roller tip rockers. they increase lift and reduce friction. i noticed a nice gain without affecting my mileage at all!

                2.8 High Compression

Hi, opening up the manifold to accept the 4.3 Throttle body is gonna unrrestrict the incoming air flow, same as you putting on that 62 mm Throttle body you did, with that done , headers are gonna get the exhaust out, just like you taking out your Cat , as far as the cam goes, with the 1.6 Roller Rockers it`ll change the whole performance of that mild cam I have, higher lift , more duration plus less friction for more torque which will get ya off the line a lot faster than a cam with lots of duration that kicks in at 3000 RPM which also requires a high stall torque converter for the cam to be of any use which of course will render the vehicle pretty much useless as a DAILY driver, I`ve done lots of research on all of these senarioes and I feel the way I`m setting up this little 2.9 it`ll be one hell of a NA Daily driver especially with the 3.73 gears and low 1`rst gear ratio of the 700R4 with a stage 2 Trans Go kit, I`m not building a High Po Race engine, just one I can play with when needed, thanks for your reply & suggestions Bill..

lol thats what im running, 3.73's and a 2800 stall tc
that stall isnt really that big, its not like you give it gas and it only starts to move at 3000 rpm, not like a huge dragster or anything
your car will still move even from an idle

                    2.9 High Compression

Hello , I understand what your talking about , but I got the feeling that some say don`t waste my money on the 2.8, if I wanted a race engine I`de waste it on something serious like a Bow-Tie block, the 2.8 serves it`s purpose for me, the engine is a complete rebuild so Im just upgradeing things to make it all that much better, alot of people do the same thing, add this part, well mayby I should add that part next payday, it never stops , I`m doing it all at once, I`ll be very happy with my outcome, it`s all I want from it, I didn`t mean to piss on anyones Cornflakes, just asked for some advise from people. What kind of millage you getting from your 2.9? Bill..

i know i know i dont like to drive it unregistered, and i shouldnt... but i im too poor to register it, and i have another vehicle that i use for daily driving anyways
but ill try to get some sample mpg histograms from scannerpro some day

Hi Sil, how does your truck launch? Do you have a cam or any other mods? If a cam do you know what your specs for it are and where do ya shift it at, did you notice any difference with the overbore? thanks Bill..

                          Bill

I was just up in your neck of the woods. I went Vancouver for the week(5 Days) The ostridge is a computer it plugs in where your chip does you can use a computer tuning program to change the fuel and spark table you can have multi-program ie... one for performance, for smog, for fuel encon, towing.... you get the point.

                          Anywho

Thats the website. It though i have yet to buy it (I don't have the cash right now) It should work with any gm TBI engine

                            2.8 High Compression

Hi again, so what did ya think of our Beautiful BC? I live about 60 miles East of Vancouver, anywho where could I get this such Ostridge computer? Is it available here in Canada, I down loaded a program called Winaldl from the net , if installed on a laptop it is able to moniter all computer and engine funtions so I guess one could use it to set up a chip. Do you leave your computer in when you hook up the Ostridge? Or is it kinda like the Jet module that goes between the sensors and factory computer? If you have any links or knowledge of where I could get one ( hopefully in Canada ) that would be cool , things are kinda pricey here, did ya notice the nice prices for Gas.....I tryed to find it on the net but have been unable to find any imfo , thanks Bill...

I really liked it up there way more relaxed compared to California high priced bull and the dumb as a rock educated population. I would move there I have made a mental note of places I would Live though it Seemed things were expensive there too.

                              The link I sent

www.Moates.com They sell them on that website. You might have to buy a computer program interface. I don't see why they wouldn't sell it to you. But then again you know the whole funny Canada US thing. full of crap. Like GM builds a different car for you up there. Anymore they build everything to the California Spec smog requirement.

Sorry my friend I typed it like the animal. But i guess its spelt Ostrich is what it is called
this is the direct link http://www.moates.net/product_info.p...products_id=57 They call it a chip emulator but it is a fully function ECU chip. They also sell stuff on there to burn chips plug different chips in.
