So how come it overheated in the first place and blew the headgasket? And how come you weren't paying attention to the temp gauge? Or did it never overheat the headgasket just went for some reason??

Well I really can't answer that question... except I can say after I did the headers I took it for a ride and it happened to be low on coolant (light didnt come on) but it did peg the gauge and when I saw it i shut it down and coasted, fired it back up and it was at 3/4.... got up a hill shut it down again and coasted some more... did the same thing a few more times to get it home and it never went past 3/4 again.

Car seemed to run perfectly fine after that for a week, and then at the dragway it just started seeping after the last run... Actually it was after the short little N2O burnout in the parking lot... and I mean short like a 3 foot strip.

So really, I could have been from after the headers that did it and then that one shot of N2O just finished it off...

Oh well I've been needing a reason to speed up this swap

How come headers would make it leak? Or are you just saying it happened at that time.. If you take it apart do post pics if you find out that the headgasket got burned through or something from n2o! lol

I had to remove the front coolant pipe to get the manifolds out, and also put a sparkplug header boot on the heater core line to protect it from the crossover pipe.

Ah so maybe it was leaking at one of those places and thats why it over heated. Got ya! That coolant pipe o-ring will leak if not replaced. First time I just threw some RTV around the pipe and it held the first time. The second time I got a new o-ring. I've been close to the red once or twice but my engine's still fine.
