  • Intake Question

i just got a set of aluminum heads off a 3.1 to bolt on to a 2.8, im pretty new to gm engines because ive been building honda engines for years now.

do they make a TBI intake for a 3.1 because i know intakes for cast iron heads are different. and if so, does anybody have one i could get off them?

if they dont make an intake what approach should i take? i really dont want to go through the hassle of installing a different fuel pump, ECM, and wiring harness just to convert to MPFI.

There are no TBI aluminum head intakes out there that I am aware of. Custom fab or convert to fuel injections would be your best bet. Maybe the 6 TB mechanical fuel injection setup that shaun has? Its not cheap but could prove interesting. I think its for the gen 2 aluminum heads.

Welcome to the good side. I thoroughly enjoy kicking honda asses in my '91 GP and my '91 Beretta GTZ.
'93 Sunbird. 5spd, 3.1, it's fast. Oh, and 240k miles has proven lethal against Turbo Talons

I'm lurking occasionaly. It's tough because I'm usually too busy with the Army or my 5.0 Mustang. Which is for sale.

Don't understand your MPFI reference. The 2.8 MPFI system only bolts to the iron heads. You might try the Cavalier intakes. They are pretty cheap at the salvage yards.

            Agreed...

and 2.8 aluminium heads are the same as 3.1 aluminium heads (both being Gen2).

Like Ben said, there are no TBI intakes but you could make one... just hack a hole in a 2.8 plenum, TIG on an adapter plate and bolt on a TBI. Probably not worth the effort.. or lack of hood clearance.
