  • 3100 and 3400 parts?

    hey im new here and tried the search but it wasnt working out too well...i just wanted to know if anyone knows the list of 3400 parts i would be able to use on my 3100 in a 1996 chevy monte carlo to get more hp. it could either be the stock parts or some of the after market bolt on parts for the 3400. any help would be greatly appriciated!

    lol almost all 3400 parts will work with a 3100 cuz there the same engine just minor differneces so u could put 4 example a 3.4 cold air intake on it or 3.4 injectors 4 more gas or even 3.4 intake hell look a a 3100 next to a 3400 ane thing that bugs me though about these engines thay blow too many lower intake gaskets lol i had 2 go on me so be carful

      if you look around, it would probably be more cost effective to find a complete 3400 and swap it in, it's nearly direct plug and play for you. you maybe have to deal with the coolant temp. sensors, and other minor things such as that, but those are easy. I have a 92 Sunbird, and they never even came with a 3x00, old school 3.1 only and i'm swappin in a 3400 cause it's easy as hell.

      Cammed 3400 --> 224whp 210wtq
      Cammed 3500 --> ???

          Um, he has a small port 3100 so the 3400 plenum will not bolt on.

          He'd have to swap on the better 3400 heads, Lower intake and plenum to get some good gains.

          I would personally do this to your 3100...

          3.1/2.8 Camaro head gaskets
          3400 heads (newest possible) Maybe even a set of Ben's ported ones.
          Ported LIM
          ported 3500 Plenum with a 65mm TB
          LS1 springs
          3400 injectors
          Some over-the-trans 3500 exhaust manifolds
          good 2.5" exhaust/hi-flow cat/muffler of your choice.

          Higher compression, Much better flow, Improved throttle responce etc.. that thing would run pretty damn good then :P

              That looks like the build list to my Z24. Exept the 3500 manifolds. It was a world of difference from the small port stuff.

              Yes, it is worth it to swap to the large port top-ends on the s.p. 3100 if you have a good bottom end...
