I've heard of too many people having problems with the 318 seals. I prefer my cars not to smoke.

Any threads to link too? I haven't heard of a single person complain about the 318 seals yet. Also aren't the .015 shims from comp just flat, without the stamped center to locate the springs?

yah thats why i like the seats that i found for the beehive springs, both the LS6/LS2 and the newer 26916/18 springs, and they come in a pack of 16 or 12, because they are designed to be used on the L3x engines and the L67 as well, and also they will fit on our heads, but im not sure on the years, and when i get them in, ill measure them and show pics

iirc those were .060" thick... way too thick for my application. I didn't want to wait to have the spring seats cut down. I ran the flat SBC shims on my 3400 w/o problems, lots of other people are using them as well. The spring will center itself just fine.. lol

the 318 seal problems were happening years ago, if i can find some links i'll post them later.

so were u just gonna let a local shop cut the seats down for you, or was that being cut into the head?

They were going to cut the heads so that the .060" seats would sit flush...something like $10 per cut.

well what was the problem, too much pressure or coil bind? and also what would the pressure have been with the .060 extra on the installed height? the installed height is like 1.7 ish isnt it?
