Why do you need new injectors?

You don't need new injectors, unless you are going to boost the engine with a turbo or something. You won't max them out modding it NA.

so if i got the LZ9 throttle body would i have to have my intake manifold bored out to match the 70mm bore of the throttle body?

What? You can mod it to need bigger injectors NA.

Yes, you would need to match the manifold, but you would possibly need to adjust the code for the throttle position vs pedal to compensate for the tip in. I think it can be tuned for peak torque from the throttle opening instead of direct drive's setup that is driver dependent only on throttle position.

I wouldn't start with the throttle body.

I'm not starting with the throttle body, I'm doing air intake and exhaust first.

And thanks to everybody for the help and information your giving me its going to help alot when i get started.

and are there any other throttle body's besides the lz9's that would bolt on?

Ok I read in another thread that the 5.3s will bolt on but are the new ones on 07 Silverados ETC too or are they still cable? And is it possible to modify a cable throttle body into an ETC throttle body?

Ben, yeah it's possible to mod NA and max out injectors, I just didn't think that modding a 3500 based car would get you to that point super fast, but then again, I don't know how much headroom the stock injectors give you. But the increase isn't as drastic as say a engine swap from a 2.8 to a 3400, which would way max out the 2.8 injectors right away of course.

Anyways leave the injectors alone until you have a way to tune the ECM. Going with larger injectors and no way to tune them will cause headaches and too rich of idle. Sure you need to tune for maximum benefit of other mods too as the computer can only self-adjust so much, but swapping injectors will screw things up since the computer can't adjust for different injectors, it just thinks they are the same stock value and will mess up fueling.

I think there is some 5.3L with ETC, perhaps the LS4 in GP's? I think there were some trucks that way too. Modding a mechanical TB to a ETC TB would be too much work/way too custom IMO. I'd not worry about the TB until you have lots more mods. You will get more benefit from other mods before the TB becomes a bottleneck.

P&P the intake manifolds, Cam, headers/or exhaust work, and a real CAI would be some things to start with as already mentioned. Without being able to tune, a larger TB is sure to cause problems too especially on a ODBII or newer car and one with ETC. I recall (L67) guys with ODBII and a DHP tuner working a lot to get their cars right after a bigger throttle body... It just changes too many variables.
