To the people that port heads

I know some of you port and bench flow heads.

I know its a different head all togeather but the aluminum some of you have stuck bigger valves in them when flowed was there a gain of any??



I'm working on on iron head and am thinking of buying a 1.77 valve to play around with.

Also pondering doing a set with 1.5 exhaust?

One last one anybody have a bolt plates design for the heads so I can put them on the bench? Most of the stuff my buddie has is for ford and Chevy SB & BB I know I can make one but it would be easier if someone already has a CNC design plate.

If you are doing an iron head, you won't get much out of a bigger valve. A good 5 side or 3 side grind and seating will do quite a bit. Also a porting job.

I don't know the aluminum heads very well so I can't comment.

The 1.5 exhaust idea I can tell you is good if you can do 1.5 primaries of 34-36" to the collector.

Yes, there are flow gains from the larger valves on aluminum heads. They are splayed valves vs in line, so they deshroud more as they are lifted more off the seat. Iron heads don't do that.

I dont have any idea what 1.5 exh valve has to do with 1.5 primaries.
