  • Want to make it to 300 hp with my 3400 GAGT

As the title says, I want to make it to that power level with round about touque.

First is it possible to make it to that number with only bolt ons and more importantly NA.

Second I have the following componets:
    Fully assembled 3500 Heads
    3500 LIM
    3400 Engine.

The 3500 parts are going in this spring.
    What elese do I need

    Thanks
    Randy

Youll need a bigger cam, higher compression, Id recommend getting the heads p&p, getting the intakes extrude honed, youll need the tuning that goes along with it. Maybe even bore out the block. With simple bolt ons, I dont think its possible to build a 300whp/300wtq NA. Youll need to get more involved for an NA build up trying to achive that goal.

i would be more worried about my trans if i were you... at 300hp and ft.lbs your diff will want to part ways with your case

i would just boost it though

I thought about boosting, but for a daily driver I went against it. But that dosen't say Its completly out.
I might store the car when the G8's come out next year. I can rip the engine out and experiment with it.

UIM, 65mm TB, Headers, CPU, Cam, P&P are already on the list (in that order) The 1st 3 will be bolted on this spring. The others will follow later in the year and into 2008

A more radical change will be a 5 speed conversion.
I figured that anything over 250 is going to need it.
At the same time I still want it to be a daily driver even at 300 (If I can make it)

If your going to use the car as a DD, boost is really the way to go while making power. With NA, theres a limit. Once you reach this limit, its very hard for the engine/tranny/drivetrain to be a DD IMHO.

Although not impossible for a high number NA engine to be driven on the street, boost is just a better way to go to make big power and have it be a good DD

With a cam swap and the 3500 top end, on a good tune you can probably see around 220 whp or so. Thats around 260ish crank hp.

A smidge of nitrous if you want can put you to 300 hp when you want/need that little extra bit of hp.

Its not hard to get to 260 crank hp with those heads intakes and a cam especially with the headers youplan to run too.

^I agree, the kind of modification you'd have to do to get that HP level Na would make it less reliable than just boosting it.

Another question is are you talking crank or wheel HP? Crank hp would be much easier to achieve since that would only be about 246whp with the auto.

deffinetly a lot more reliable and streetable considering the cam that you would use to get to those numbers...

                  Oh
                  opps not 300 hp wheel
                  Its 300 hp crank,

Is that possible with just bolt-ons?

it took a massive cam, port work, headers and some other misc stuff to get 300 HP/300TQ out of my 3500 (in Desktop Dyno 2000).

the 3500 top end, swap over to the 3.4 iron head pistons to up the compression, healthy cam, longtube headers, bigger injectors and LOTS of tuning should get you there with your 3400 block.

Was simulation 300 hp and tq at the wheels? with a full 3500 motor?

The setup I am doing simulates 300+ at 6000 RPM in dynomation but that is using 12.4:1 compression. If you want to spin it to 7000+, it might be possible but then you are going to hurt the trans even more. You need compression to make a stab at 300+. Streetable will be determined when its running and tuned:P

Does Federal Mogul sell those iron pistons
If so how much do they go for?

Does the 3400's block need to be modified at all for them to fit?
