Yes, they will help some. But don't expect huge gains from them. Even combined, you probably will only see 5-10hp max gains. There will definately be a change in the sound of the engine though.-Brad-

ignore shaun, he forgets that he wasn't born with the knowledge he has today.
Have you read the articles on this site? That would be a good start. Google can show you some other articles on the topic of cold air intakes as well. Do you understand why cold air is better than warm/hot air?Ben

Just do it right and dont have the cone air filter in the hot engine bay sucking in hot air like some ricers do. You will actually loose power for 2 reasons.
1) hot air in the engine bay is less dense than outside air, and defeats the purpose of "cold air intake".
2) By giving your motor hot air, you increase the chance of detonation/pinging and your computer will detect this via the knock sensor, and retard your timing, and you then loose a lot of horsepower.
You may/may not feel more power depending on how restrictive your stock air box was. But you will hear your engine more. I can't hear my exhaust over my engine with a cone filter, but it does sound damn nice. Friends that aren't car buffs ask me if it's a V8 hahaha. It will make your exhaust a little louder too but you wont be able to tell unless you are driving behind your car and compare before and after while someone is hard on it :P
EDIT: Also with the cone filter, you don't hear the engine all the time, just when you really open it up and get on it. So it's not like it's loud as hell driving down the road. Just when you stand on it.sigpic New 2010 project (click image)

Moved. This isn't really a boosted question now and you might get a better response to your cold air intake questions in the Pushrod Performance forum.
Having done both short ram intakes (warm/hot air intakes) and various cold air intakes, I heartily recommend a cold air intake that draws from the fender. Good luck.

I might sound like a goof, but I was wondering about the whole electric turbo thing to, and being that I wont beleve anything till I see it.. I desided to build my own from a electric motor and fan you probably use every day in ur car already.. The blower and motor for ur climate control/ air vents.. I used one from a chevette because i tend to have parts from these laying around in excess. I took the blower&motor and cut off the back part leaving an output then made ducting behind it with a hole to fit over a carb. like a bonnet, and the car was running a little to rich at the time and that's what pretty much made me think of this, instead of getting 2 jets lower I flicked on the switch and suprizingly enough it ran stoich.. i havent done times yet with it.. but posibaly in the spring I can get some evidence besides the jets that it is actualy adding power and posibaly efficiency by making the manifold vacume lower. it has enough presure to push ur hand of the end of it when its running so I would asume its doing somthing at WOTVIDEO Acadian http://videos.streetfire.net/video/8...7f00197eea.htm
