  • couple of 3400 q's

i am geting a 3400 out of a van and from what i read the throttle body will not fit for a car well that what i make of it. so if i get that motor i can get a throttle body from a 3100 thats out of a car will that work ??
and i got a cam and a timing chain for my 3.1 that i was going to build before i went with the 3400 i am wondering if the cam and chain that i bought for my 3.1 will fit my 3400?

the TB will fit, it's usually the throttle bracket that bolts to the top that you'll have to change. that's very simple. Just find one from any 3x00 car.

In short, no your cam and timing chain will not work in a 3400.

    Which cam is it?

you are not quite correct there. a 3400 can be retro fitted with a cam for an older motor. however, you will need to retro back to flat tappet lifters and will have to use the gen 2 timing chain. you may also need to use custom pushrods.

crane 2030 its a cam and lifter kit so if i have cam, lifter, chain, push rods form a 3.1 i can use it ? cause its all stuff i bought a couple of months ago and cant return so i wanted to use it but will i gain performance or loose performance ?

I think you'd be better off staying with the roller cam. Why go backwards in technology? If you can't return the other stuff, sell it here or on ebay. Someone somewhere will want it. If you want a good cam for the 3400 you can get a regrind here for a decent cost.

Not sure what the issue is with the throttle body, but I'd try and use a TB from a 3400 vehicle rather than a 3100. The 3100 has a smaller throttle plate and won't be matched to the opening of your 3400 manifold either. Thats my take on it.

That's why i said "In Short"..

He would need custom length pushrods for sure...

Besides, the 2030 is hardly worth the effort..

I'm sure you could sell the stuff on here or any of the GM FWD sites like V6Z24.com. There are people looking for stuff like that for the 3.1.
