stupid head gasket question

I was wondering what everyones opinion is on running 2 headgaskets to help lower the compression on a 3400?? im not saying im gonna do this but i have thought about it. im trying to find a place to make me some custom ones but if itll work running two then i will.

btw its a 2003 3400 with 30k completely stock and will be boosted..im putting all new gaskets, timing chain, and LS6 valve springs (want to run 10psi without the risk of it breaking anything..i know some have but itd be nice to know itll be safe as i dont have the money to tear it down again)

why lower the compression? Lots of people are running 9.5:1 with the same or more boost.

I'd personally have .020" cut off the tops of your pistons to drop them to 0 deck, that'll drop it a bit (Maybe 8.9:1 or so). There might be a few sets of forged pistons floating around for the 3400 as well...

Running 2 headgaskets is not a good thing to do. Shimming is an option, good luck finding them though.

If you have a good intercooler and run 93 octane, 10psi is probably do-able. Or at least pretty decent psi.

I run around 9psi on my Silverado SS and it has 10 to 1 compression. I have a intercooled magnacharger on it. With the correct tune you will be fine. You can always spray methanol to up the octane, cool the intake charge, and allow you to run more boost. Snow performance makes a nice hi pressure injection kit.

i know theres a few running 10 and 12psi but theres alot more blowing the pistons apart and thats not a chance i can take right now thus wanting to lower the compression just alittle to help out..but as of yesterday i have to hurry along alittle cause the car is having issues that will get fixed during the swap and at this point its not realiable enough for the drive i have to make to school every night..im just gonna keep it at 8psi for now..hell its better then the 5 im running now on my 3100

We get 93 octane around here. I'd say if you're gonna go over 8psi you are probably gonna want to spray methanol or at the least closely monitor your Knock retard and IAT's

im more then likely gonna keep it at 8 for now..later on im gonna look into methanol or similar..also its gonna get tuned as much as possible by a shop then ill work it some more once i get can get money for a DHP
