  • 3.1/3400 hybrid or 3400

hey i am thinking about puting a motor in my 88 z24 at first i was going to build a 3.1 but for the money that i am going to spend on p&p and the power i am going to get out of it i dont think it is worth it so i was just wondering if there was a big diffrence in the motor mounts form the 3400 to 3.1 ?
i would like to put the 3400 for extra cubes but like the 3.1 bottom end cause it will bolt up right in place whart do you guys think ??

The only difference in mount is the front passenger side mount.

If you need one, contact me, I'm making them for both the auto and manual J-bodies, for swapping in the genIII 660.

so you are saying that if i get that mount the motor is a direct fit?
and then i only have to change the injectors to the 3.1 ?

          It ran mine fine...

I had a custom chip to run the Multech 2 injectors but they say you can get away with running the stock 3.1 or even the older 3100 M-1 injectors with a pre-2000 FPR and the stock chip. It's not ideal but it will run and shouldn't cause problems.

if i put the 3.1 injectors my ecm has a superchips for a 2.8 so will the 3400 still putout the same numbers that it was rated from the ohter car or will it loose some ? and if so how much do you think ?

Yes, with the mount it will bolt in.

There are some other things needed, like new fuel lines or adapted ones, coolant hoses, throttle cable, all the little misc. stuff that swaps require.

Have you checked out http://domestic.3400z24.com/660board/ yet? It's a site dedicated to swapping the genIII 660 into a J-body, and other vehicles as well.

get rid of that superchip, god only know what it would do with a 3400.. run the stock chip untill you can get one that's been programmed for a 3400.

Burn over on V6Z24.com was making them for people, he hasn't been around in a while. His chip is pretty much dead on if you run the newer 3400 injectors with the newer FPR.
