theres alot of factors when guessing what a stock bottom end will handle.. i was boosting 12psi when my motor let go... which was probably around 360-370 hp or so.. and i had a really nice tune..(done by me)... id say 400 crank is max... i ran 15psi once or twice and she acted stupid so i back it down to 12psi.. the built 3500 will see 15-20psi all day...

if you would like to see my dyno numbers they are on www.realfierotech.com

I will say this right now though, you will not make more then 250 dyno proven whp before the motor lets loose.

Dodge underrates the srt4. Stockers I have seen dyno 220-230 whp. Magazine tests have shown this to be true as well. Thats what they are factory rated at. Probably to keep insurance down. The new ones are rated at 300 crank hp, unlike the 240 hp from before.

in my old setup even legally at the track I was tough to beat in the 1/8th mile. I would run 8.8's-9.0's However the last half of the track sucked. I always got passed. Just didnt' have the power. Thats where your mph comes from. ET is mainly from the hook, hp is the mph. I never had the mph. I woudl always get passed even by measly lt1 v8 guys. Or should I say pesky V8 guys. But thats why its QTR mile racing and not 100' racing. Because you need more then just launch. Launches do not win the races by themselves.

All it takes is a fwd car to be running slicks or Nittos to hang with you on the launch. Its lights out then. FYI, a lot of the "slicks" and the nittos are DOT which means you can drive them on the street. So even from a light on a city street from a dig with a good driver would have no problem hanging even from a light. What are you going to say then?

You need more than tq to win races, you need tq AND hp. You don't need alot of tq. You need enough to launch and get you going but after that it is all hp. I don't expect to beat every car on the street, but I know I will put up a damn good race. Drag radials are the shit, but if they can buy them so can I. I have some decent tires now. I wish I could do it all at once but I have to pace myself. I have plans to use the AL heads and have a dual TB intake made to allow the distributor to fit. That is in my plans for this spring/summer. I understand the srt4 has a lot of torque when the turbo spools, but I will also have more than enough torque when I flip the switch. But as stated it is more than just tq that wins races.

HP is just torque multiplied by rpm. Many setups with good low end torque have poor high end HP because the exhaust, intake, cam design etc won't allow the flow for top end power. What you have to do is try and balance the torque and HP so you have enough torque for a good launch and the HP doesn't drop off before your intended redline. You got the general idea though.

you are right, it does take more then tq. And you wont' make more then 250 whp with the spray before the motor blows. A bone stock SRT4 does that. A bone stock evo does that. V8's have no problem doing that.

Like I said, your setup wont' give you enough hp to give you the mph needed to beat these cars even after you take them off the line. They will walk by you with ease after anything over 60 mph.

I would def like to see you put slicks on your car though. Be cool to see pics the next day of your tranny laying in 30 pieces with the guts exposed.

I will say it again. You aren't going to be able to put a 200 shot through your motor and expect it to hold, just because some 3400 guy did it with a completely different motor and forced induction application altogethor. Your 3.1 the way it was built isnt' safe over 100 hp. Which limits you to about 230 whp or so. A stock SRT4. NO where near the amount you would need to beat pesky v8's

Keep it at a 70 shot and just have fun with it.

I will be very happy with 250whp. I understand I won't have a lot of power compared to some newer cars, but we all know there are many variables to a race than just power. I can't afford a 3400 swap or any other swap at the moment. From what I have read the only plus with the 3x00 is the roller valve train and the heads. I can get the heads and a set of full roller rockers. If others made nice #s with an iron head and boost why can't I make the same with juice? i can go with a roller cam and pay a shit ton for a custom performance grind or go with a flat tappet and have a cheap custom grind that can be made damn near anywhere. I understand the AL heads are the better power producers so that is why i am planning for them.
