  • Stock bottom end...how far can it be pushed?

I am just trying to see how much power anybody is making before they blow the motor? How much boost or how big a shot?

Cranks are proven. No one has snapped one yet. 400 HP would be a good number.

I have heard that from several people just wanting see about the rod bolts, rods, ring lands or the pistons period.

Well midnightriderz24, running around 10 PSI on a 3400 Turbo was running 358 WHP and 365 ft lbs on stock everything. For how long will it last? who knows but it's taken the abuse from a 19 year old kid driving it lol.

lol very true, im in no way gentle to my car. be4 i put in the built motor, im going to be running 3'' exhaust (used to be 2.5) alcohol injection, and up the boost from 9 to 12..... we'll see, im pretty confident she'll hold. it holds 425 crank hp now so...

So then basically it can handle a 200hp increase then? I only want to run a 125 shot so that gives me confidence when I need to up the power level to 150-200 for those tricky V8 guys. How long did your motor last at the 400+ chp level?

I wouldn't run a 125 shot on a stock 2.8. I know Travis did it and got away with it, but he had a lot of dyno tuning to get it done soemthing which I doubt you will do much of.

I wouldnt' go higher then a 90 and even then thats pushing it.

If you end up going 125, retard the timing back to about 4 degrees base, run 93 octane, and also you better be running at least 20/50 oil.

My 2.8 is pushing 200 whp on a direct port setup. There is probably more there, but why push it.

Even with a 125 shot you will still only be around 260 crank hp. Pesky v8 guys will still be laughing at you especially after 100 mph. Cars are just too fast today.

Now if you only race to 60 mph not much will be able to keep up, but there is no fun nor honor in that. Most cars are barely out of second gear.

run a 70 shot, have fun with it, but don't expect to be king of the street. You will get mopped up by bolt on srt4's

I have a stock long block 3.2, I have plans for some tuning, but I want to get an FJO mini 1st, then get some tuning with a WBO2 then get a Darth chip. So yes I do have plans for tuning. If people go more than 9psi with boost I can surely go higher with the controller installed. That's no lie about other cars they just get faster and faster...that just adds to the fun of the competition. With my untuned, no bottle warmer and shit tires I walk on WRXs with a cold 75shot @ 600psi. So I know that with my new setup the performance should be a lot better. I have yet to run an SRT4 on the street, but in the 1/8th they don't have a chance. I have plans to retard my timing 8 degrees anyways because desktop dyno shows I can gain 30hp and only lose 15tq. I don't expect to be king shit, but I would like to show people Fieros can be quick and possibly fast. That Tiago dude made real nice numbers with a stock 3.4 and so did MidnightriderZ24. I understand 1 had the AL heads and 1 didn't. I am trying to figure out if I want to use the AL heads and go 11.3 CR with some juice. Was that 200/250 with the stock intake or the other?

wrx's are slow. I have driven them. They are dogs especially to people that can't drive.

When I was making around 200 whp with the dual tb intake and the direct port, I got walked by a stock srt4 with a K&n drop in filter from a 40 roll. They make around 230 whp stock.

Your 3.2 is probably making around 120-130 whp so you would need a 100 shot just to keep up with a stock srt4

I know most cars won't stand a chance in the 1/8th mile. but thats weak as everyone knows a fiero launches well. which is why races are qtr mile or more you need top end power as well, which 230 whp won't really give you. You might get 100 mph trap speeds with that. Thats slower then a stock evo and LS1 and on par with a stock SRT4 and SS cobalt

Will you surprise people? Sure. But dont' think you will be taking down those pesky v8's especially after 75 mph.

3400 can make a ton more power with the al heads and has a better bottom end then you from the factory even. Allowign it to make more power more reliably. Tiago spent a lot of time on the dyno tuning.

Don't think you can slap on a 125 shot and expect it to make 125 extra hp. You need to hit the dyno and buy lots of jets to get a true 125 hp shot and/or more. NOS or NX jettings are not always accurate and are mostly just a rough guess. However you could get lucky and the jets are perfect

You will need quite a few jets at $6 a pop that will add up. Then minimum of around 2-3 hours tuning in the setup will be needed as well. At around $100/hr that adds up. Then you say you want your fjo or wideband and thats another few hundred. Its adding up. You plan to actually spend that much or were hoping to do it much cheaper? Or did you have no idea?

Whats your plans when you blow it up? you have a back up engine?

I think its funny how so many people say that anyone can just slap a nitrous kit on, but thats not really true. A lot of people would and do mess it up.

like I said run a 70 shot, and be happy as well as safe if tuned right.

Are you a capricorn, gemini or a scorpio...hahahahaha. You have that oh so assumptive asshole personality, its great.
Ya ya ya...you need to be tuned in order to make the best of whatever mod you install. A guy I know has a stage 2 srt4 so I guess I will see. Fjo mini is $216 with shipping, the dyno time is 75/hr and a $45 Darth chip. I have a lot of jets. I hope I don't blow the motor but I am buying a 2nd family car just in case the motor does go. Then build another in October.

man i would def look into a different engine, at least the newer alum headed ones for the specific torque output, no the SRT4 isnt 230 WHP by using the documents that dodge puts out, but dynos may say a diff story. the torque from them is what is even more impressive. if you want to win torque is the name of the game. HP doesnt mean much without torque. (HP really means nothing to me if you dont have at least as much torque if not way more.) with those the torque is pretty low 2200 rpm, the 60*s like the 3400 have a higher torque rpm, and dont put out as much. you already have the weight advantage, you dont need much power at all to make fried rice-r, but with a little cam work on a 3x00, you would be killer out there. if you had better gears from a manual trans or a ghier stall converter for an auto, there would be another rice toy car to find it hard to beat you, then turbo and nitrous...even more icing on the cake. but seriously like u put racing doesnt happen from a roll...and racing is only "legal" on the strip or a course, so as long as you can keep them in the box when you launch there, then there is no contest that it is better than suburban combat stop light racing will be better also
