  • More Newbie Questions

Hello my name is Zero and I just sign on to this forum. I know this a dumb question but I was wondering if any you guys and girls have any ideas on how to squeeze out more horsepower out of a 3100 SFI V6 engine. I all ready know about the CAI (still trying to find a company the makes one for my car), I am hopefully going to instill a larger Throttle Body (from a 56mm to a 62mm {still trying a company for that as well}) and swap the stock ehaust system with a new SLP or Flowmaster Exhaust system. And I replaceing the old plug and wires with New spark plugs and 8.5mm spark wires. Any ideas would be greatly apperated. I am working with a budgut of about 2,000$

i believe there is quite a bit available for the pushrod 60v6's, not so much for the dohc 60v6's.

i bet if you posted this in the pushrod section, you may get alot more insight. just a thought

Check the store here for some ideas, as well as the pushrod section on the site (links on the left of the site). Dunno what vehicle you have.

Sorry for putting this thread in the wrong area. I have a 1998 Pontiac Grand Am GT with a 3100 SFI V6 engine. It has an automatic 4-speed transmission.

well same info applies you can talk to Lvemy3100 or mark the owner of Mpracing. I currently have a 3100 SFI V6 in my 2001 malibu and those 2 things in my opinion are the best power adders for your buck. Except nos haha

magnecor spark plug wires, ac delco spark plugs. Thats what I recommend. How mechanically inclined are you? I would swap the large port manifolds onto the engine at least. Include the 3400 cylinder heads if you can do that. Porting would help more as well but at the very least go with the large port manifolds. I will have more 62 and 65mm throttle bodies sometime (hoping before march). Get a programmer setup or have it tuned after you modify the motor. DHP sells a programmer if you have a laptop to hook it up to.

Well because I am at a technical college, they give me a laptop in the tuintion. Well I work on cars in high school and take a couple of engine apart and put them back together. So I know a little bit about engines, the thing is I don't have a lot of equipment, so I just going to have to work with the tools i got.
