Stage 1 SC is .496/.500 valve lift, 214/222 duration, 109 IC, 113 LSA

Stage 2 SC is .557/.560 valve lift, 224/234 duration, 109 IC, 113 LSA

you could get a regrind for very similar specs...

there is still turbo cam specs, with more duration on intake vs exhaust where as the sc specs are opposite somewhat.

so if ls6 springs bind at .560 theres no point in going with the stage 2 specs... how do you think it would perform with the stage 1 lift and the stage 2 duration?

yah he says that machining is ness with the stage 2 cams either NA or boosted

also its on here somewhere about lift on the valves, not only do you have to worry about the spring coil bind, but also valves hitting the piston

Valve hitting a piston is duration issues... The only other part that may need machining to clearance the 560+ lift is the valve guide on the head, it may bottom out the seal on the retainer before it gets to full lift, resulting in a bent pushrod.

And Ricky, DON'T regrind your stock 00 cam, get a replacement one from bens store and submit to him what you want for a grind. they are solid rather than pressed on lobes and hollow.

the head machineing is BS, the retainer won't hit the valve guide till like .700+ lift.. maybe it's just to give a little taller install height to avoid coil bind though...

with the dished pistons you'd be able to run a pretty high lift... not sure of the limit there. I could find out on a 3500 though, maybe tomorrow night after work.

Remember though the whole point is for the valve to be closed when the piston is at TD, so that means if you’re hitting a valve on a piston your duration is too long and your interfering with the pistons movement.

ok so with the high lift cams the only thing you have to make preparation for is springs that have better coil bind on them than the 560 on the 3400 and 3500, and thats the only issue with going above .500 lift to say about .550 or so

i planned to buy a solid cam from ben..theres a place two streets over from me that does custom camshafts for alot of the hot rod guys around here so i was going to take it to them unless ben gives me a good deal on the cam and the grind..
