didn't measure them yet, I'll check them later, I'm also going to remeasure spring height to be sure its 1.8 so i'm getting the right spring seat pressure.

I didnt think the 2.2 seals worked for the 03+ heads but maybe I miss read it somewhere.

either way these work great, and they press on nicely so I'm not worried at all about them coming off.

spring height is like 1.3 iirc...

i have the same springs on the same heads. machine shop said coil bind was at .560 with safe lift at .500.

I hope to hell your spring height isnt 1.3... I think they ment to tell you that it binds at 1.3, Installed on these heads with those shims its around 1.880 Rough estimate with a cheap measuring tool... Definately not the right tool to check it correctly but it gave me a rough estimate.

Which would mean with installed height of 1.880 or 1.9, and .500 lif that puts you right at 1.38, or 1.4, depending on where you start, so ~1.3 bind sounds right.

With 1.880 or 1.9 installed height I gotta be sure to check spring seat pressure... It may be lower than I want.

I researched it on this site and came up with like 4 threads, and put them all together and found all the parts that needed no modifications to fit.

Seats are a 88 Toyota Land Cruiser (Gas engine) Aaron found this out I think... I could be wrong.

And the seals are a Chrysler 318 motor, thats all I asked for an I got those,
Felpro 95341.

Oh and to really answer the question, the shims are needed because the stock seals that are the seats for the springs dont fit the ls6 springs, so you need to use these and they fit the valve guide with no modifications and they also will center the spring. You NEED them since the heads are aluminum. Works out pretty good.
