No for now i'm just saving up for a 3500 motor hopefully for 900 total. Ive got 500 of it ready. I'm just hoping 900 will be enough with shipping. I want it at least below 40,000 miles. After i buy that i'll buy the 4 things i'll need the gaskets probably 170 and then the fluids 100 uh and that umm 120 dollar product from ben i cant remember what it was called. So it should be around 1200 for the new engine, but after i get that i'm gonna keep it out and save up parts to upgrade the 3500 for better flow. That and i'll keep it as a backup in case my 3100 dies it should be okay tho. Right now i'm just worried about getting a fully working 3500 and ease of install. Any guides for this would be very much appreciated or info of any difficulties during install thanks and the trans is supposed to be designed to take 550tq other than that i dont know its about 3k tho. i'm letting of the engine for awhile because lately its me sitting here reading and trying to learn everything about my engine as quickly as possible tends to..... drive you crazy haha no offense to anyone. From what i know now i'm gonna leave it at that for awhile.

you know you also need a TB right? and to extend some of the wiring harness? 170 for a full gasket set? heh... good luck, if you take it apart to the bottom end you'll also need machine work and bearings among other things

just leave the engine together, bolt it in, bolt the new CPS sensor on, the new TB, get your wiring done, add 50/50% coolant and distilled water, then some good synthetic oil, new oil filter, hook up the CAI (which might need a lil modifacation) and your ready for tuning....

like i said though, they're aren't any guides for a 3500 swap that are really fully put together or that would give you any more info than we already have, you could search top end swaps but beyond that your on your own

again, gettng an engine shipped is a waste of money and again i will post this link- www.car-part.com

find a close junkyard and rent a truck from u-haul if you have to... it'll still be cheaper

Dunk you should scratch the 3500 idea until you are actually gonna do the swap. By the they will be cheaper and you will have a better understanding of engines and this swap as well. I would spend the $500 on anything that will make you faster or help you control the power. Don't by an engine just to have it sit and run the risk of rust or anything else.

It won't rust i have an engigne stand and some clear plastic covering for it, but there's no point in upgrading my existing motor if i'm just gonna take it out 8 months later. Even then i cant swap over a regrineded cam, then ported UIM,LIM, and TB there wouldnt be a point it would be a waste. What would i do with the 3100 after i just spent 1400 dollars on it? I wouldnt get any money from it even with new parts because it would have 130,000 miles on it.

Okay then don't do any engine work slap some juice and some good tires and some lightweight rims and be done with it. Then you can go faster and everything swaps over.

I wasnt trying to be mean or anything its just ive been told by so many people there isnt any point on working on the 3100 because it wont produce the power i want. Honestly i dont even know what kind of power i want anymore.

Then think about what power you want and what you plan on doing with your car. FWD with a lot of power is not very smart if you ask me. You can make ANY engine powerful. Indy cars have 1,000hp 4 cylinders.....just as a reference.

Yea i know they run on 4 cyl. I dont know depends on what comes i may convert it to RWD, but for now i'm more concerned about my currrent engine and trans. Haha funny how your point of view can change over a couple of days.

^^^what he said, ill be lookin into the swap also, and if i can make harnesses and get them out to the comm then i will. its better in every way, and gives u better starting ground, plus youd be mr billy BA around the forums for a while and cause alot of drooling

i think reliable everyday power is better than just juicing at the track. and the extra torque all the time would be very nice, plus the 3100 cam would swap over to the 3500, just look at the cams on the 60*store, sappy is da man. so i wouldnt use the same cam, but i was just using that as an example. im sure someone would buy your 3100 setup off you and you could have plenty of $$ to use towards the 3500 project.

If you are seriously talking about making your mailbu RWD then just keep it stock and buy a RWD car. It takes alot of cutting and pasting to do that. If you can't even swap a motor then just wipe that thought out of your head.

I think what i'm gonna do is buy the 3500 engine. Then after that i'll buy all new parts for it like spark plugs and wires. Then i'll make sure the exhaust port is clean and then i'll clean the engine off. After that i'll buy all the parts i'd need for the swap like the extra wiring for the harness which shouldnt be to expensive and then the 120 dollar part. Then i'll have to pay 36.50 to take my old stock pcm and have it flashed for the 3500 motor at the dealership. Once thats all done i'll take the 3100 out install the new one then install the new computer and pray to god she starts haha. Hopefully i can do this all within the next 6 months. I just have to make sure i have ALL the parts for this install before i start. Thats why i was wanting a guide for any parts i'd need to go from a 3100 2001 to a 3500 2004.

yah well the only prob with having the pcm flashed is that itll put all the code on there, that includes the codes for the DBW throttle body, not good. just get the DHP PT and tune it that way, better for you, cuz you can change anything you want at any time and make better tweaks to the programming for your driving style.
