Umm well i have someone else that tunes my stuff. If the engine will run off my 3100 origional code then thatll be fine because i'm having my already tuned one sent back and having it tuned for my new engine. I just didnt think the stock 3100 computer would run the 3500 engine. Right now atm i can get a some sweet rims and tires for 350, but.... itll set me back on the 3500.

well the rims and such are up to you. but the 3100 pcm and the 3400 pcm from that new are almost the same, so there shouldnt be any probs just changing some stuff to make it work. all it would take is a good baseline tune. and on the 3500 youll have to change the fuel rail, because it is returnless, id actually get a clearanced UIM from sappy and the 3x00 FPR bracket off here from TCE then use the adjustable FPR off here and get an even better tune and driveability.

you dont need the adjustable fuel press reg, but i think its a good idea anyway

Umm well if i drop the 3500 in right off the bat i wont upgrade it. So then if i dont upgrade it what would i need to install it? Also uh i have a 3100 SFI so is this gonna cause problems?

shouldnt cause any probs that i know of, the only thing you wouldnt need for an upgrade would be the adjustable Fuel press reg, you can use the stock one as far as i know. if you have an questions then i would get a 3400 comp from another car like urs and use that to tune with. shouldnt cost too much. you can use your stock tb, or one from a 3400, but it would hurt perf really because of the lip on the TB adapter, so thats why i would use the one from the 60* store, or you could get a good used ported 3400 tb, that would be better, but you would still have to use the bracket

Well lol i think i'm going to get the rims theyre 17in and 5lbs lighter than the steelies. I did try and talk about this on UM, but aparently all my posts disappepar ow well. So should i wait to put them on before or after i get new rotors and does anyone have any suggestions for rotors? Its generally really rainy here.

first off, the 3500 will deffinetly run better with the 65mm TB as opposed to the 56mm unit or 62mm ported TB

you dont need to change PCM's, just tunes... it'll need a lot more fuel and honestly for Marks service your looking at prolly something like $300 atleast for a full tune, the dealership wont flash the 3500 program on to your PCM and even if they did it wouldn't help you at all and the 3500 will run dangerously lean on your current tune and run like shit if you dont fry a piston first

for rotors just get a stock replacement (you will need new pads if you replace your rotors) unless your ready to invest in a big brake upgrade

as for when you put rotors on, you dont need new rotors to put wheels on, the only time you need new rotors is if yours are either warn down or warped to shit

What time frame are you looking at for doing this type of stuff to your car? If its not any time soon, I wouldn't think too hard on it. You will have more options as time goes by.

There are plenty of people here that know what they are talking about. You should probably work on understanding the basics for engine performance.

Yea i have, but ive been told the 3500 is not the best engine to go with for my car. So i dont know. I would have thought the 3500 would be better to build up because of better flow then again maybe not. Right now i just want a nicely powerful car. 250-300hp somewhere in that range because newer cars have engines with that much power. So i'll ask again what engine would be the best for this?

almost all the gm j, n, and w bodies w/ the 2.8,3.1,3.4, 3400 would see sig upgrades w the 3500 and easier install than any of the other newer v6s, ie 3900, 3.6l, 3.8l

okay so the 3500 would be the best for this then right? Ben i'd like your opinion to.

Newer cars that have that much HP have engines that are pretty technically advanced for a V6, and are usually DOHC, VVT, etc. Oh, and they are usually in some of the more luxury or performance vehicles, not your everyday driver. Don't expect to get that kind of power by just swapping in a different engine. No GM engine that will easily swap into your car will be near that HP without a decent amount of $$ dropped into it. I don't want to discourage you, but I think you are looking at all of this the wrong way...
