I'm gonna be all over you once I get my OBDII in there, I'm gonna need some hints and tips on what to look at and what to tweak... basically send me in the right direction and I should be able to tune it on my own.

So you mean 2 steps colder than stock overall? Suit yourself... I don't think it's necessary though and you'll probably foul plugs with street driving when you aren't running WOT with high combustion temps all the time. I'm only using 1 step colder and have run 11psi on my engine with no detonation.

I run 2 steps colder in the s/c 3800 and they haven't fouled in about 20,000 miles. Many gap down the plugs - I went from stock 0.060 to 0.057, based on others' observations. I also run a 160 t-stat in the 3800 and other than lousy gas mileage and tripping an SES for coolant temps too low (haven't picked up a powertuner, but I clear it with a scan tool I have), it works great.

Check http://www.alcohol-injection.com/ - one of the more popular kit suppliers.

Although I'm no turbo expert, that gap looks way too small. You may not get complete combustion - your knock problem may be at least partially due to the gap.

How much peak boost are you seeing?

Are the plug heads powdered with a whitish or light tan colored substance?

That gap still seems very small. You want as large a gap as possible without suffering blow out (something I don't believe can happen in all but the most radical builds, but that's only my opinion), since the greater the spark, the more energy released in combustion. There is also an issue with resistance in higher atmospheric pressure conditions, but, again, I believe the differences are only exaggerated in radical builds.

Search around for plug gapping and you'll see that the experts (plug companies, not the average builder or weekend racer) recommend the greatest gap you can run. Try http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/techinf...try=US#gapping, where you'll find
most experienced tuners know that opening gaps up to present a larger spark to the air/fuel mixture maximises burn efficiency
It goes on to say that for forced induction, you can gap down, but you'll find that many only gap down a few thousandths, not hundredths - see http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/techinf...200&country=US, where NGK recommends not gapping up or down more than 0.008 on a plug, for alignment reasons.

The stock gap for a s/c 3800 engine is 0.060, which is the same gap for the n/a 3800 and 3400 engines, among others. At .037, you're almost half that gap, which must be killing some of your power output, at the very least, irrespective of plug condition (although I'd expect few problems to show up with too small of a gap, ATBE).

From what little I know of your setup, I'd only recommend 0.055 to 0.057 - I'm running 0.057 with 11 to 12 PSI of peak boost on the Regal.

But, as with the rest of us, it's your engine and you're free to do as you wish.
