  • turbo TBI, or powerful one

Hey, Ive been contemplating on putting a 88 TBI 2.8 into another chevette for more of a reliable/practical car for the winter, and somthing to drive wile I screw with my racing one.. Here it goes., Can one turbocharge a tbi of that year, or can you fit on the tbi off a 4.3, I beleve the are close to bolting up, think I would need the computer from the 4.3L if I were to go that route.. or is the 2.8L one sufficent for boost? what size turbo do most people use on 6-60's?? Btw any other suggestions for power besides putting aluminum heads on it.. I will quite possibaly be putting a cam in it, and doing the heads also..

for a reliable daily driver, go with a 2.8/3.1/3.4l from a camaro. they are mpfi, so they are better for boost.

other options would be building a 3.1/3.4l rwd block with 3400 pistons and top end. should give you a good n/a 180hp, more than enough in a little chevette to have some fun with.

TBI's honestly suck as much as a carb for a blow through app like a turbo. That is why a blower under the TBI is best.

You can do it if you want but it is more hastle that it is really worth. MPFI is the way to fly with a turbo.

Yes all TBI units will interchange. You need to bore out the intake though.

Personally if I were to do one it would be mpfi. Don't even hassle with the tbi shit. Just get harness/ecm out of a cavalier with a 660/5-speed and install some genIII power behind it. Should be more than enough for a daily driver.
