  • 3500 difference?

what is the difference in the (LZ4) 3500 offered in the G6 2dr conv (217 hp, 217 tq) the G6 4 dr (224hp, 220tq) and the (LZE) 3500(211hp, 214tq). do the LZE just produce less power because they are flex fuel?

dont have excel right now or i would look at the internal specs.

well the lx9 was rated at even diff output, i was just looking at the current offerings from gm on their powertrain site. i gave the codes for the ones now, but there is a diff in the output on the g6 with the conv and the hard tops

ok so since they upped the power rating and the lower output LZ4 is the 06 model and the higher is the 07, then would they have changed the intake/head design to get that much more power? just want to know cuz im getting funds together to do a 3500 swap and want to make sure i get the best heads and intakes to start out with, so little if any modification will need to be done to make them really good.

i know they are a good design already, but if i can get more power from the 07 model, then ill do it

The new LZ4 3500 heads will not fit the 3400 block as they are the same as the 3900 heads

"This new generation V6 allows a high level of flexibility, with common castings over a range of displacements. The 3.5L (LZ4) V6 shares its block, pistons and cylinder heads with Powertrain’s new 3.9L (RPOs LGD, LZ8 and LZ9). A common bore measures 99 mm; displacement is increased in the 3.9L with a longer stroke (84 mm, compared to 76 mm for the 3.5L). The two engines share 80 percent of their parts."

Check the 3900 thread for more info.

"The world's best cam combined with a poor set of heads will produce an engine that's a dog. But bolt on a set of great heads even with a poor cam, and that engine will still make great power." ~John Lingenfelter
