I KNOW it is possible to use a 3800 EATON supercharger on a 3.1. I have a 93 beretta and I am looking to put one of these on it. Does anyone have any information I should know or any parts that I may need for this, like an adapter plate to put on my manifold and bolt the supercharger to.

there is no adaptor avalible. a couple people have cut a hole in the upper plenum and bolted the s/c to it and blocked the tb opening off. to me, thats the lazy way out and it sticks up through the hood. its actualy a pretty gehto setup. to do it properly you need to have a custom lower intake made, or one modified for it.

sc install
better dump your airco and make it less obvious
there is a sc. in it,by putting it down there
this way it's easier to use an intercooler and it will make the weight
distribution better.
I am doing it in that way in my fiero
I am using the ford 3.8L sc. btw.
U have to use a relocation kit for your oilfilter because
there is not alot of space down there.
the rest is customizing

I don't want a procharger i want a blower style supercharger. I plan on mounting on top of my upper plenum. I will make or get a cowl hood.
Also will I have to get a different ecu?
Will I need bigger fuel Injectors?
Should i use the stock 3.1 throttle body or should I use a 3800 throttle body?

fuel for sc. install
I bett you would need bigger fuel injectors.
look at this link for a calculation

And what are you talking about procharger for? These are still roots style blowers, an M90 is an M90 no matter how you configure it to work. Just the Ford M90 is configured a bit more user friendly for mounting, unless you want to have it sticking through your hood sideways like a dbag.

Ok lets get this straight. You can buy a cowl induction hood for a beretta, i was looking at them. the 3800 supercharger is not even 10" tall its self. so its not going to be 10" out of the hood if the engine fits under the hood now, and im pretty sure it does. it will be fine. i post my new 1/4 mile times when its done.
The first pic is a 2.8 the second is a 3400. the sc on the 3400 sticks up more than the one on the 2.8

i'd try something else. I'm not a genius, my car doesnt work, and even if it did, its not boosted. But I can come up with something safer, more efficient, and just plain looks cleaner. Put your mind to it and draw some stuff out, there has to be a better way.If you aren't friends with a liar, you aren't friends with anyone.

Good luck, finding a cowl induction hood that has a cowl wide enough.
You gotta think this through logically.
1. Mounting the S/C
2. Belt Routing
3. Charge pipes
4. fueling & tuning
5. cosmetics ( if you mount it like you plan, it will look like shit)
At this stage you have alot of research to do, before you even touch a supercharger. Also please realize that no one makes parts for this type of conversion, so everything will be one off custom.2000 Grand Am GT

THen what is everyones suggestions. What will work better and not cost alot. this sc idea i wanted to do was only going to be in the $400 range. Does anyone hace a boosted 3.1 that can help me. I dont wnat a turbo becasue the crossover pipes are just about impossible to find. plus i don't see where i w\ould run the exhaust. the setup i wanted, doesnt even require an intercooler.

i am with J on this one a rootstyle supercharger is the best looking set up (if done right )and my personal fav (i dont care for turbo's) but it a lot of work but a other way you could go (it dont look as good ) is a centrifugal-style blower i got a couple of pics of those and the look pretty simple to fab up not to mention its a clean install01 olds shilluette 3400/4T65-E stock for now

ingeneral the centrifugal sc's make there power in de higher
rpm's..I would go for the ford sc. because it's cheap..easyest to install..no oilfeed like the turbochargers!...and it delivers power from low rpm's.
I am gonna install one myself in the place where my airopump used to be.
get a sandwichplate for a remote oilfilter, that will create room for the sc.
chances are you have to get a smaller starter..or shorten the drive nose
of the sc.(my way).
good luck.Bnothing's impossible-it's just a mindset

It just depends on the power goals. I like the idea of a roots type supercharger since i like more seat of the pants off the line zoom. But since Roots charger isnt a "dynamic" power adder it doesnt have the same potential as a turbo. Or since you dont see many 660's with an eaton on top he's going for a wow factor.
I'll try to explain how i would install one, using a M90 from a thunderbird:
I'd mount the supercharger to the under side of a custom made plenum, why? this would allow me to make the overall height as short as possible. also this mounts a ford supercoupe M90 in a stock orientation, with the oil /fill/check hole accesisble, to make room for more boost you could try to sandwich an air/water IC here. I dont have everything to look at right on hand but if the fuel rail and injectors were in the way, you could close off the OEM holes and mount customized fuel rails on your new plenum, allowing longer time for the fuel and air to mix through a much greater distance than before. If you aren't friends with a liar, you aren't friends with anyone.
