  • 3100 heads on a 3.1

    i have a 1991 corsica with a 3.1 v6 can i just swap the heads only and keep the same upper and lower intake? will i gain any hp/tq bu doing this swap?
    the car has a 3 speed auto tranny how much power will the tranny take?

    You would have to run 2 lower intake gaskets to make it work. The ports won't line up from the head to the intake though and the intake manifolds suck too much to consider reusing them. You need to swap the manifolds and fuel rail on there as well, and by that time you may as well use the large runner 3100 or 3400, or even better, use a 3500 top end.

    Ive heard the 3 speed is tough...but I don't know what it can take.

      my old TH125 died behind an allmighty 2.8...


      200 HP/250 TQ is about the limit for a healthy one.

      I'd just swap over the whole top end, you can gain an easy 30 HP or more.
