  • 3.1 camshaft

I was wondering if some of you could help me with a cam selection for my 93 3.1 5 speed beretta? It is a fresh rebuild with ported heads, ported intake, cold air intake, roller tip rockers, and some Ls1 springs in the head. If you could tell me what the driveability is with your cam ( computer programming etc.) , and if you had to change pushrods. Also does anyone have any info on the mantaparts cam? I have tried emailing them to ask about it with no answer.

    Thanks for your help

Where do you live? You have emissions testing?

If not go with sometime with large lift and duration yet computer can still control. If you dont' have emissions testing might as well go with the largest you can. The Crane 272 is a good cam. Wnat to get even crazier add some 1.6 rockers to that. Will have over .500 lift. If you do have emissions testing go with the Crane 260. Still give you good power.

Yeah Im lucky, we dont have emissions testing in my state. So if I stay with the 1.52 roller tip rockers which cam would you recommend? I want to run with the stock computer for awhile and maybe get a chip for it a couple months down the road when I get my exhaust on to. Thanks for your help again

go with the Crane Cams 260 Grind. i know many guys running stock programing with this cam and no issues.

im currently using the Comp Cams 16-233-4 cam with stock programing. cam has 212 dur @ .050, and with my 1.6:1 rockers .469 lift.

i know of a few guys using the 272 grind from Crane, the engine runs fine on the ECM,

as per emissions are concerned with these cams, im not sure. we dont do testing in manitoba.

I've got a Crower Regrind in my car, but its Haltech controlled, so I would be able to program for it, if only we didn't have damn emissions here
Specs are 214/210 Duration .454 Intake/Exhaust Lift, 114 Lobe Center, 1.5 Roller Tip Rockers, it was ground with a turbo in mind as well....I shouldn't have problems with emissions, the tester at school read it was below readings at idle so I should hopefully be good to go there. We'll see come April, then fun begins

I've got the 260 cam installed in my 3.1 and it runs like a champ. No problems with the ECU whatsoever and pushrods are stock. Big noticeable power increases in the mid and upper range, too. I would go with that one.
