  • GM's aluminum 60* engine block...

    Anyone know how much it costs? Not that I could afford it anyway, but I like to dream...

    Oh, and I want to start a thread on it too. Anyone actually own one?
    Increasingly I find the difference between a "fact" and an opinion is the number of people who believe it.

    3.4 block converted to roller valvetrain with 220/225 cam on 115 lsa, '769' heads with 3500 valves, LS6 springs & porting, twin T04E turbos, 3500 plenum with ported 3400 lower & 'short star' 65mm throttle.

    There are a couple people on the forum who either currently own one or have owned on. They have been discussed on the forum many times. Current price IIRC is around $3k from GM. With a little searching, you could find plenty more info.

        That and it would make installing a roller cam block in a RWD vehicle a hell of alot easier.

                    iirc, he has a gm prototype aluminum block, heads and intake from the "porsche eater" fiero prototype. it was basicly just aluminum versions of the gen 1 iron block and heads, and i think the heads even had the small valves in em.

                      Last I heard too it wasn't installed in anything yet. Still in the crate. Don't know if that's changed or not.

                            No. I have the bowtie block. Large mains, 4 bolt caps. Not the prototype block. Someone else has the prototype block and prototype heads running around in his fiero. He posts on www.realfierotech.com

                            I did at one time also have a prototype block but I sold it to someone in Arizona. he posts on here too.

                              Anyone have a guestimate on how much power you could pump through it? Seems with 4 bolt mains, extra webbing and thick cylinder liners it could hold up to alot more abuse than the iorn blocks could, although an iorn block would be much stiffer. When I get the $$ for it I'm going to use block filler on one of these, turbo it, put it on alchol and see how much I can get out of it before I break something.
