It's been done.. or very close to that... www.turboz24.com

BUT i agree, SBC is the way to go. I have an 82 T/A with a roller 355.. i have a moderate cam in it with truck heads, 9:1 pistons, gear drive, single plane intake with a 750 carb.. made 300 crank HP and 400 lbs of TQ on 89 octaine and completely un-tuned.

        Simple build...

        4 bolt main 350 from a late 70's truck
        350 Vortech heads
        stock rods, stock pistons
        stock crank
        550+ lift roller cam
        1.6 roller rockers
        1 5/8 LT headers
        Vic Jr Vortech intake manifold
        750 carb

Bam, 450+ HP and probably 450-500 lbs of TQ

no BS of having to route charge pipes, mount intercoolers, spending hours on computer tuning etc... just pure brute force out of the box.

Once you've felt the TQ of a built SBC you'll be hooked

        dyno vid of mine...

Sick t/a superdave sounds premium!! As for that cavi with the turbo I couldent find any hp numbers but with 400 f/lb Tq I could asume that 500 hp is around the corner, and with iron heads!! thats just insane.. It gives me hope with 660's, so should it for everyone else here..

            Thanks!

He's pulling the engine out of the Z24 and putting it in an old MG, the Jbody tranny kept breaking as well as his custom "indestructable" axels. IIRC he built it to handle 18PSI.

              Parts

What kind of parts are you looking for? Try Flatlander racing or ARI they have all the inards. As far as cams, PAW or Laser Cams. Nitrous is always good. Edelbrook has an intake manifold to be used with a holley 4 barrel. Fageol makes a nice blower. Hope this helps, Phil

I agree with Superdave; put a V8 in it. I even have a 2 bolt main 350 I'll sell you cheap

What are you people talking about.... he asked about performance parts for a V6 in otherwords this is where you should shine.... and by shine i dont mean "just put a V8 in it" anyone can put a V8 in any of the cars on this forum but people like me do work on the unsuspecting engines to be different.

If your looking for parts for a V6 that has little to no parts support anymore sometimes you have to impervise. My engine is running Small block chevy rods and Mitsubishi 3000gt pistons. Yes it does work and these pistons are forged and premade for a turbo. As has been said before if you get the gen 3 heads they flow better. I guess it depends on what parts you want and how hard you are willing to work for it.

Look at his goals. 350 hp na? Good luck with that. We may be 60V6 enthusiast but we aren't stupid. For what he wants there is absolutely no reason to work with the V6. Sure, you could push 300 NA out of one but at what cost? Longevity?

Im gonna check out the 3000 GT piston specs tomorrow.

Exactly. Besides, F-bodies are supposed to have V-8s in them anyways.

I am more than sure that these engines can push more than 300hp NA.... they were ran in sprint cars and several off-road racing applications. Besides i know that there are V6s that run 800+hp so why cant ours?

Let's get real here. We're talking about a street car; not a race car. If I had $25K I could build a 500-700HP V-6. I'd also have to rebuild it probably three or four times a month just to keep it running. Not very feasible for the average hot rodder; you said it yourself- sprint cars and off-road vehicles... NOT street cars!

Ya last time I checked a Firebird was a street car. Besides , SO he does make an 800hp v6, there is going to be some dude rite beside him with a 900Hp v8 that spent half as much and it will run twice as long!! and obvioulsy go faster and probably get better street fuel mileage.. So NEVER EVER! challenge a swapped vehical with ur stock engine, bigger engine in a smaller car is always good for performance and efficiency, I supose its just P/to W, And like ive heard all too maby times there is no replacement for displacement, and it is always true
