supercharger adaption to 3100 with 3400 heads?

Is it possible to adapt one of the 3800 eaton superchargers to a 3100 engine with 3400 head swap? What would be required? What problems could arise?

My suggestion would be mount it in the lower part of the engine where the AC comp is located.

If you mean the SC along with the 3800 intake manifold it bolted to then it won't work. The difference between the chevy 60 degree v6's and the buick 90 degree ones (3300 and 3800's) are just too many.

If you mean just the blower itself then follow the above post. It's just a matter of fabricating a solid mounting bracket (no small task) and a way to get the air charge up to the throttlebody.

Would be a 3400 lower intake with either a 3400 or 3500 plenum (still undecided).

You're saying that all it would take is a custom bracket holding it steady somewhere not in the way, and an fitted line to the intake?

Is the objective to have as short of a line into the intake as possible? Do bends hurt the airflow?

the 3800 sc has been bolted onto a 3400 before... his name is gavin he did it to a beretta.. go to bstuff.com and search gavin or 3400 sc... he posted the cad file there with dimensions for the lower intake manifold..

Yes, you can bolt an M90 to a 3400, if you like to have said M90 sitting above the hood. Its not very practical IMO, but to each his own...

movr the alt to where the ac is and put the sc up top in back. custom UIM and you are in business.

It goes away... You can't have everything and keep it under the hood without spending significant $$.

oh well, that's the end of that then. Colorado is a desert state (up to 105 in the summer), and this is a family car with a wife and infant. So long supercharger dreams....

There's also the option of a centrifugal blower. RSM makes a kit for the 3x00's but the quality is sketchy at best. There was talk here about mounting one in place of the coolant overflow tank (that'll have to be moved or something smaller custom built). The problem there is you need to get a reverse-geared CSC which for whatever reason is more expensive. Plus you'll still need to find a way to mount it securely to the engine.

The last option I can think of is to hunt down one of the Eaton kits that were made for the 99-05 grand ams. The hard part there is finding one since only 14 kits were made.
