  • Stupid radiator fan!

I just finished putting my wiring harness back together after I removed the a/c system and now I can't get the radiator fan to turn off. It turns on a half second after I start the engine then it won't stop. Not sure how taking the a/c out could possibly cause that or what I did to it but any ideas would be appreciated. Maybe a bad relay? Connected a plug backwards? Bad temp sensor?
Increasingly I find the difference between a "fact" and an opinion is the number of people who believe it.

probably shorted the AC request input to the ECM to ground
Okay now, that's enough of that.

The electric fan wil operate any time the AC is engaged, so you obviously have ECU thinking it is. I don't know how the '85 is (assuming that's what we're dealing with from your nick), I only have the diagrams for the 94-95's. My diagram has a lead for the "A/C Request", do you have the fuse pulled for that? My aftermarket electric fan has it's own controller and takes its cue from the AC clutch lead, that may come into play. I'd check to see if you have voltage on them.

Aaah, that makes sense. Although the '94-up camaros have obd2 the wiring should be roughly the same. Now that I think of it I may have mistakenly wired the clutch signal wire back to the ecm while I was reassembling the wiring harness. Thanks for the help.
