I have my boosted 3400 motor in for a few weeks now and i notice that when i get into the throttle the breather on the back cover drops oil all over my downpipe causing lots of smoke. Now i read on a boosted grand prix forum that having the pcv connected to the intake is bad when under boost. It supposidly boosts the valve cover and forces oil out. Now i have taken my pcv valve out and plugged the vaccum going to it and i don't get anymore smoke. is having the pcv hooked up to the intake a bad idea? and is it the true source of the oil spilling out of the breather???

You want to have vacuum or at the very least, open air on the crank case. You want to have vents on teh valve covers. Boosted motors usually have a check valve to keep the crank case from seeing the boost, but the best setup would be to have a seperate vacuum pump running to the crank case. This will promote better ring sealing plus help prevent blowing out a seal.Ben
