Well I know all about being broke. I don't know exactly where your fuel line is rusted, but assuming it's in a place that's fairly easy to get to... here's what I'd do for a relatively cheap and easy solution:
I'd go down to the auto parts store and buy a section of steel line the same size as your rusted one, long enough to splice in. Then do down to the hardware store and pick up one of those mini tubing cutters and a couple of compression fitting unions. Cut'n splice... no need to mess with rubber hose and clamps.
