  • 96 corsica wont start after engine swap

i recently replaced my my engine w/ 1 from 96 beretta. I didnt think that there would be any difference but there must be, because it just keeps cranking but wont fire. I have fuel pressure(tested fuel rail valve) so I've ruled that out and have also had suggested to me that maybe it was the crank position sensor, I've changed both 24x by harmonic and the 7x in the back of the block. I ve also swapped coil packs from engine that ran in car before being pulled. I ve checked every connection several times checked fuses and still cant figure it out. I'm not good at chasing elec problems so please any suggestions would be greatly appreicated because I wanna fire this thing up before my warranty expires to make sure it runs! Thanks in advance!

p.s : i have no way of obtaining pcm or ecm from car because it was totaled and crushed after accident! (frame damage)

You may need to reprogram the Cal pac or EEprom.

    Do you have spark?
    Was the ICM checked out?
Does the fuel pressure follow power band??
Does the fuel pressure bump up when key on tested? Does it hold when finished?

When it turns over do you get a gassy smell in the exhaust?
    Any smoke?
    If so what color?

Any gassy smell in the oil??

    Any backfires on cranking??
Any lunge cranks while hold start??
If so what is the color of the spark plug electrodes?
Ae the plugs wet? Fuel fouled?
    Are they carbonized or white?

Still no spark, plugs are fine just have a slight gas smell test valve on fuel rail lets out bigger squirt when key is in the on position no smoke no fumes no backfiring no nothing just keeps turning and turning but wont catch. Just curious what the difference between beretta/corsica ecm/pcm could be?

Crankshaft position sensor and or ICM issues.

Check wiring from crank shaft position sensor to the ICM.

Pull the coils, get a test light, Ground the test light and probe the tabs with the key on, turn the key off and measure the the tabs with a hot test light. If you had a voltmeter you can test voltage.

        Do you have a 3.1?
