  • O2 Sensor for 3100, Universal, Brand Questions, etc.

Anyone have a favorite brand O2 sensor? I'm thinking of going with a Denso OEM fit, or a $10 cheapear NGK universal.

Any cons to the Universal other than cutting wires?

And the cheapest place I've found is www.sparkplugs.com but I don't know how much shipping will be.

    Car is a 94 3100.

    TIA. -Isaac

      bosch sucks

My bosch only lasted 24,000 miles in my OBD I 2.8L

$14.85 + $8.05 to my zip code for the cheapy NGK o2!! So $22.90 shipped and the bosch is $21 otd from the local parts place

I have access to a tech I scanner so I scan every 1,000 miles to see how lazy the o2 is getting(among other things), anyone running a 3.1 or 2.8L getting more miles out of NGK or Denso's?

I had 180k on my o2. (obviously needing replacement). Put in a new denso ($45 shipped from sparkplugs.com) Bosch from local store was like 60 or something plus tax!

I've driven ~100miles on it, and I didn't disconnect the battery so the computer didn't have to re-learn anything, but it may still be adjusting to the new O2.

First impressions: throttle response is down.
Few days later: throttle response is back up. Computer must have re-adjusted. Also at 45mph in 3rd (not 4th) not pressing on the pedal causes the car to decelerate, where before it coasted more. Perhaps running richer at idle/cruise was the cause of that? Reving the motor in neutral does not produce raw-gas smell out the back anymore. My cat I bet is finally thanking me. haha.

I filled up with a full tank of 89octane non-ethanol. I've gone WOT lots of times, and the fuel gauge hasn't moved much at all. I'm getting as good of milege or better than my friends 4cyl sunfire, and I'm driving city and flooring it and he's just crusing on the hwy. Defiantly liking the mileage !!! woooo hoo!!

They had a NGK on sparkplugs, but it was not OEM replacement. It was cut and splice. I looked on clubgp, and they recommend the Denso over the NGK. One guy put ~100 gallons of leaded race gas through his Denso before it gave out!! So I assume the Denso's are pretty good.

BTW, I noticed GM is using Denso's in their newer 3400's/etc.... So I'm satisfied!
