  • Belt Tensioner Assy "Chirping"?

    Hi,
Have a 2003 Impala LS (3. 33,000 miles. Started having a slight "chirping" and "tinny" sound yesterday. Seems to start after car
is warmed up. Happens at idle and at highway speeds only when letting off the gas. Then, when accelerating back to speed it goes away. Sure sounds like it's around the tensioner assy when the hood is open.
The belt looks good to me, but I haven't pulled it off yet.
Coolant is right up there and I checked the power steering fluid - good.
See there are 2 heater hoses going in to the assy. What are these for and how do you remove/install them? Going to run a scan tomorrow just to make sure I'm not missing something. Then, maybe off to the dealer
for some help before I replace a good part.

    Thanks!

    John

    Not The Tensioner!

The friendly dealer fixed my problem. Installed new PCV kit.
Diagnosis, labor, kit - $163 with tax. Said it was building up presure.
    Well, mine was up too!

um, a PCV valve cost less than $10 at any parts store.

what the hell else did they do?

did they at least kiss your neck when they had you bent over?
