  • Lower Intake Gasket replacement, need some advice/help

I've personally never been this deep down into a 3100 motor, so dont mind the retarded questions.

when i plan to do this i also plan to change to a gaterback belt, new plugs AGAIN, new 180 degree thermostat and sensor. I'm also adding a low coolent sensor since my damn light keeps staying on.

My question tho is when i change the lower intake gasket would i need to change the upper intake gasket as well? or anything else i should order. and if so can you please provide part numbers.

The part #s i've found so far is this one.

    V6, Upper 12480824
    V6, Lower 12480829

really you should change any gaskat on any part you will have disasembled i.e. upper intake, throttle body, injector seals. just for the fact that if you have not had anything off on your engine in a while the gaskets are probobly going to get torn, and be it know you deffinetly don't want a vaccum leak or fuel leak from a small tear. i have had my intake and throttle body off a couple of times, be it know that i have reused a old gasket just because it didn't tear. but i would not recommend it.

There is no need to remove the throttle body. Just take off the bracket that holds the throttle cables on. You don't really need to take out the fuel rail either, just disconnect the lines. If you do take them out, you can use the seals again if they don't rip. Just put a little dielectric silicone on them so they go back in easier. Clean all mating surfaces!!!!!!! Leave no stains. And use a good torque wrench when tightening the bolts and use thread lock on them. You might as well replace the T-stat while you're in there, they're cheap enough.
