  • oil in the coolant, how hard is it to change a head gasket..

    i now have oil in antifreeze of my 96 lumina 3.1, so my question to u guys is, how hard is it to change a head gasket in one of these?

    As long as you mark all your vacuum lines and connectors, its pretty easy!

    Re-use your head bolts: clean them up perfect, clean the block holes with q-tips and use thread sealant on them. (I know you arn't suposed to re-use the head bolts)

    Don't kink your throttle cable. Make sure you clean all the carbon off the pistons and anywhere else it builds up. Wire brush all gasket surfaces, wipe, and wash with acetone.

    Don't re-use any gaskets of course. And careful when you pull your injectors off the intake to wipe off and inspection. Well, those injector o-rings you might be able to re-use. you decide.

    It's also a good time to index your spark plugs...nevermind if you don't know what that means.
